Beauty is such a wonderful concept. To look the way you feel inside and to know that you look it can make you feel even more beautiful, more confident and a lot happier. There is nothing wrong with using beauty and skin care products to get that glow on your face. You can go for over the counter beauty products that will not only enhance your looks, but will also nourish your skin and keep it healthy in the long run. These products differ in constitution for different skin types, but most of them can be used for every skin type.

The skin on your face is perhaps the most sensitive skin part of your body. You accumulate so much dirt and grime on your face as you go about your day, without even realizing it, that you need to cleanse your face thoroughly to prevent the dirt from clogging your pores and bringing about breakouts in the future. There are endless numbers of skin cleansers available everywhere. After you cleanse your skin, it is important that you apply a conditioner and toner to your face to make sure that the pores are closed and there’s no chance of dirt accumulating after you clean your face. Toners also preserve the natural elasticity of your skin, preventing it from getting sagged and wrinkled. Conditioners keep your skin moisturized and prevent it from drying up.

The skin around the eyes is very, very sensitive. It requires intensive care which regular beauty and skin care products do not provide. Using daily revitalizing with natural extracts and oils can provide much of the nourishment the eye area needs. The natural oils and plant extracts in these creams help calm and fortify the skin around the eyes, preventing wrinkle formation at the same time. To treat your lips, using lip balms and oils which contain Calendula and Anthyllis extracts will prevent your lips from getting cracked and will help soften them.

To nourish your body, using oils such as the Birch-Arnica oil is a great idea. This oil soothes and relieves your muscles after a rigorous work-out. Blackthorn oil very efficiently prevents the occurrence of stretch marks as it strengthens and tones up the skin. It only follows that pregnant women use it so often.

Since we are talking about making out body better, why leave out the hair? Hair go a long way in making a woman look beautiful, and beauty and skin care products for the hair definitely beg a mention here. The most common products are shampoos, conditions and hair creams. A regular shampoo gets rid of all the impurities and particles that settle on the hair during our day. If they are let to stay, these impurities can damage the hair greatly. Following up the shampoo with a conditioner is essential to preserve the shining, healthy look.

Just make sure you identify your skin and hair type and get the products that are made especially for you. Once you start realizing the importance of a healthy body, you will start looking beautiful automatically!

Herbal Skin Care

July 14th, 2008

Our skin provides us with the much required protection that our body needs from harmful outside intrusion. However, the skin doesn’t act as an impenetrable shield around our bodies. The skin is a tender and easily penetrable cover. Premature wrinkling and staining of the skin is why over 50% of people specially women turn to various herbal and artificial creams and lotions.

The majority of lotions and creams you can purchase over the counter are composed of artificial chemicals and moisturizers which are harmful to your skin in the long run. Herbal skin care products are made from natural ingredients and don’t have harmful side effects as artificial lotions and creams have. Also herbal products are relatively easy to purchase and apply without special directions.

For people who are not comfortable buying herbal products they can manufacture many of the things they find over the counter right in their own kitchen. To improve the quality of your skin use a few drops of lime juice in a bowl of iced water. Splash this on your face and massage for approximately five minutes and wash with ordinary water. This is particularly helpful of you have oily skin.

Beetroot is another one of nature’s gifts that is very healthy for the skin. Grind beetroot in to small pieces, squeeze its juice and apply on the face for five minutes. Take a shower for ten minutes using a mild herbal soap. The intake of honey also has a very positive effect on the skin – simply mix a spoon full of honey in a glass of water and drink every morning. This will make the skin smooth and shiny. Drinking good quantities of water is probably the simplest and easiest method of keeping the skin in shape – Drink at least eight glasses for a healthy and supple skin.

Good skin care begins with the usage of a skin cleanser. You can cleanse your skin by exfoliating it to remove the dead cells buildup and to clear up the closed pores. Follow that up with an application of a good herbal face wash. A good herbal face wash should contain aloe-Vera and Rose extracts. Aloe-Vera is plant know to enhance a skin’s glow and revitalize the skin with all essential vitamins.

Herbal Alpine and Teatree face washes are a good alternative if aloe-vera face washes cannot be found.
One of the drawbacks of skin cleansing is that it removes all the skin’s essential oils along with the dead skin buildup. The skin’s essential oils protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays and also from other harmful outdoor intrusions. So in order to return your skin’s oils back you need to moisturize it. A good herbal moisturizer, such as a Mangosteen and Nettle moisturizer, helps to bring back your skin’s glow by injecting the essential oils back into your skin and increasing the overall texture of your skin.

Mangosteen is a fruit which has been used for many hundreds of years by the people of Burma to enrich their skin and protect it from outside harmful intrusions. A simple homemade face wash is rose water. By using rose water on your face you are enriching the color and texture along with its overall glow.

Herbal skin care, as you see, is the cheapest, easiest and most natural way to preserve your skins youth and beauty, in the short and the long run.

Natural Skin Care Oils

July 14th, 2008

The science of skin care products has now evolved to “el Naturale.” A lot of money has been invested and spent in perfecting the science of skin care botanically.  Aromatherapy and essential oils are now incorporated into our daily beauty regime.Gone are the days of heavy oil based foundation and other oil laden skin products and this is especially good news for those of us that are prone to oily skin naturally.

There are two (2) categories of “natural oils.”  There are essential oils, and then there are carrier or base oils.

Essential oils are oils found naturally occurring in plants and it is the essential oil within the plant or flower that gives fruits, flowers and herbs their fragrance.  Essential oils are obtained by distillation or expression.  Essential oils are very highly concentrated so they are used very sparingly.

The carrier oils – almond, sunflower, olive, walnut etc are used in much higher concentration in the skin care products we use, or they can be applied to freshly cleansed skin to nourish, soften and protect it.  These oils are used as the base for diluting essential oils.  Oils have the capacity to penetrate the cellular level of our skin and deliver vitamins, oxygen and nutrients and thus help to stimulate cell metabolism and regeneration.

Many oils available have anti-bacterial properties, thus assist in reduce infections present in sensitive or damaged skin.  It also makes sense that sunscreen protection is added to foundation makeup because of the damage the sun causes to unprotected skin.

Moisture that is actually lost from skin through sun and wind exposure needs to be replaced quickly so the surface of the skin remains soft and smooth.  A good quality natural moisturizer does two things – it protects from external skin damage whilst it gives our skin a layer, under which our skin retains its own natural moisture.

With all this new knowledge now available on how to take good care of your skin, it is up to the individual to find a skin care program that is as close as possible to being the right combination for her.  We have all heard of the dreaded “T” section on combination skin – greasy, oily forehead down to outside the bridge of the nose extending right down to the chin.  Would you believe you can actually apply moisturizer to this part of combination skin, however, you would be mindful to look for a very light moisturizer for this particular area.

Moisturizers are used as a base to which your foundation may cling to before finishing with an airbrushed powdered makeup to compliment and set the application of your foundation. Now your makeup can be finished off with a complimentary shade of airbrushed blusher, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick or lip gloss depending on the look you want.
